Dr. Levitsky currently serves as Senior Vice Chairman, Department of Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and as Cheever Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School, both in Boston, MA. He is also the Director, Cardiothoracic Surgery for CARE GROUP in Boston. For 2005-2006, he is President of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. His distinguished career spans over 40 years, includes over 450 publications and faculty positions at Yale University School of Medicine, the National Heart Institute, the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Cook County Graduate School and Harvard Medical School. In addition to academic medicine, Dr. Levitsky has extensive experience in health care delivery operations and clinical investigations. He recently completed a series of investigations for HCFA (now CMS) concerning the Cardiovascular Medicare Partnerships for Quality initiative. Dr. Levitsky graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and is board certified in surgery and thoracic surgery.
